Fitnah is not a small word and it is not a light matter. It is not harmless disagreement, casual drama or ordinary tension between people. Fitnah is a fire. When it is lit among Muslims, it burns trust, Brotherhood, sincerity, mercy and peace. When it enters the masjid, its evil becomes even more dangerous, because it corrupts the very place where hearts are supposed to be purified.

One of the most dangerous forms of division is not the kind that appears openly in the language of race, class, nation, or tribe, but the kind that hides beneath the appearance of religion.
